Parkwood 4x4 (Tong) - Off Road Facility info and galleries page.
Parkwood Outdoors Ltd is situated in the picturesque village of Tong, just 2 miles from the M62 and only 4 miles from Leeds and Bradford City centres, and is run by father and daughter team, Rebecca and David Hoare, the site has been successfully hosting a wide range of events since 1993.
4x4 Information. The venue offers over 100 acres of woodland trials and natural terrain for all types of off-road vehicle. The site is open on selected dates throughout the year and allows you to bring your own vehicle and spend some time driving safely off-road without having to worry about tearing up green lanes or rights of access.
(The following documentation must be produced on entry, MOT, Log Book, Drivers Licence and Insurance).
The BLUE Routes :- These allow all drivers whether novices or seasoned off-roaders to sample the delights of taking your pride and joy off-road and experiencing just what it was made for. Generally consists of woodland tracks with gentle climbs and descents, also few gentle axle twisters. This route can be enjoyed by all off-roaders, Road tyres should get you around the blue route as long as you drive sensibly, All Terrain tyres not really required.
The RED Routes :- These are for the more seasoned drivers with a little more experience as the tracks make use of the undulating ground within the woodland area. The route consists of mud tracks ( very deep mud in certain areas which can be avoided ), Moderate climbs and descents, Nothing too extreme but I would recommend a better choice of tyre if your planning on not getting stuck. All terrain tyres or Mud Terrain required
The BLACK Routes :- These are designed for modified off-road vehicles with experienced drivers. The black routes sort out the men from the boys. Vehicles wishing to have a go are normally kitted out with Mud-Terrain tyres, Lift Kits, Winches, Snorkels and under body protection. I would recommend this route be driven with a navigator (someone to release the winch when you become stuck in the mud). Tree straps must be used to prevent damage to the woodland. The black routes are extreme and will test any modified vehicle to its limit.
There are qualified First Aiders and Marshalls on the site equipped with radios and recovery vehicles are on standby to deal with any eventuality. The facility does not offer a general free for all go anywhere you want policy, all routes must be adhered to for your benefit and the safety of others. As with all off-road sites the Marshals at Parkwood 4x4 are there to look after your welfare.
Facilities. The site has a set of toilets located near the entrance and there is also catering van, Hot food and drinks are available all day.
Other Events. Parkwood Outdoors Ltd is also home to the Rubi-tong (Rock crawling section), forest gravel testing and corporate team building days. The Scorpion Challenge also using the testing terrain for one of its rounds. Off road driving courses are available (Introductory and advanced) run by fully qualified instructors.
